Constructing post-human worlds of perception

Nerissa Mengyi Li

Nerissa Mengyi Li is a cross-disciplinary artist working between China and London. Born in Chongqing and raised in Shenzhen, her practice is shaped by experiences of rapid urban transformation, cultural memory, and changing relationships between humans and their environments. Through moving image, installation, immersive environments, and digital image-making, she constructs future-oriented perceptual worlds infused with posthuman mythological dimensions. Her work explores how humans maintain connection with themselves, others, and the world as intelligent technologies reshape perception, memory, identity, and relationships. Drawing from Chongqing’s cultural heritage and the Dazu Rock Carvings, she develops visual languages where body, landscape, and technology become interconnected systems.
